Place the bran, sultanas and sugar in a bowl, pour in the milk and leave to
soak overnight.
Grease and line a loaf tin, aprox 8"x4" (20cmX10cm). Sift
the flour and baking powder into the mixture, stir well and put into the loaf
tin (enough milk to make is run but still firm). Bake in the centre of
the oven for 1-1.25 hours until well risen and firm. Turn out the loaf,
remove the paper and cool. Serve sliced with butter

Grill the aubergines for 25 minutes at medium oven. Take them out of
the oven, open and scoop out the flesh (I try and discard the seeds)
with a wooden knife only obtainable from Transylvanian!! Chop onion
finely or grate it, mix with aubergine, add all the other ingredients, mix and
cool.
