cut across the floor level which runs above the horizontal window.
These windows may have been for a stairwell, but even so they are strangely
placed. the horizontal window supporting the brick wall above defies

Look carefully to see the brick joint vertically on the left separating
the oldest part of the house from the north wing. Immediately at the
top of the first floor window is another brick change. originally
the roof level of the cottage which was this oldest part of the house came
down to the top of the window 9inside the ceiling slopes down to the
window and there is a false roof space). |
